Running as a Part of Life 🌿

I’ve been running for as long as I can remember 😊. In the beginning, it was effortless, almost incidental—just part of other sports I practiced. Running had no special role; it was a tool, not a goal. I used it to warm up, to prepare, or simply to stay generally fit. Back then, I didn’t see it as something with deeper meaning. It was a simple, natural part of movement, something that belonged without demanding attention.

Over time, that meaning quietly shifted 🌱. Not suddenly, not deliberately, but gradually, almost imperceptibly. Running became part of my weekly—and at times daily—routine. It turned into a constant I could rely on, regardless of life’s pace or obligations. It was no longer just exercise; it became a way to step away from the noise of everyday life, from the expectations of others, and from my own internal pressures. On the run, I found a space where I didn’t have to prove anything 🕊️.

It became a place where thoughts could settle and clarity would emerge. Sometimes they unraveled on their own; other times, they simply quieted 🤍. Running often gave me distance from things that felt complicated or overwhelming. And it was precisely that distance that allowed me to see them differently.

Nature and Moderation 🌲

Running also prepared me for life’s challenges—not only physically, but mentally and emotionally. It taught me that effort isn’t something negative; it’s an inevitable part of the journey 💭. It taught me persistence, acceptance of fatigue, and the understanding that the pace isn’t always the same. Just like running, life has periods of ease and periods when every step feels heavier. What matters is to keep moving forward 👣.

I live near Maribor, in an area offering incredible opportunities to run in nature. The rolling hills of Kobansko aren’t always gentle, but that’s precisely what makes them special 🌄. Running these trails demands focus and adaptability, while also connecting with an environment untouched by artificial design. Forest paths, open vistas, and the changing seasons give running a deeper significance 🍃. Here, nature isn’t just a backdrop—it’s an active participant in the experience.

Years of experience have also taught me the value of moderation ⚖️. When running becomes an obligation, it loses its essence. If it starts to confine rather than free, it’s time to step back. Joy should be the guiding principle, not duty 🌾. Running that is balanced from within has a more profound and lasting effect.

Simplicity and Rhythm 🕰️

This approach brings satisfaction and, over time, strengthens motivation to face life’s demands. When running is a choice, not a chore, it becomes part of life rather than a line on a to-do list 🙂. It’s not about covering more kilometers, shaving minutes off your time, or tracking stats. I don’t use gadgets, wear a “sport” watch, or plan my runs in advance. I don’t measure, record, or compare 📉. I run without targets.

I run when I can. And I run in whatever way my body allows at that moment. Sometimes slower, sometimes lighter, sometimes with more effort. I accept that not every day is the same and that it doesn’t need to be 🌤️. What matters is being present in the moment, listening to myself 👂.

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter where we are or where we’re going. What matters is that we can navigate each situation and do our best. Running is simply one path that quietly reminds me of this, again and again 🤍.
