🌄🌲 How it all started

Every running story has its own beginning. For some, it’s a big decision, for others, a desire for change, but mine started much simpler – with curiosity 🤔. Nothing dramatic. Just a question: what would happen if I started running? 🏃‍♂️ A lot of credit for that first step goes to my wife ❤️. Even back then, she loved to run and would often return from a workout with a smile 😊 and that special feeling of satisfaction that runners find hard to hide. One day, almost in passing, she said to me: »

If you don’t know what to do with yourself, go run. You’ll feel better.« 🌤️ At the time, I didn’t think that sentence would trigger something bigger. But I decided to try. Very quickly, trail running pulled me in 🌲🏞️. Not asphalt and city streets, but forest paths, hills, gravel roads, and trails I had never seen before. The idea that I could explore nature through running felt like a little adventure 🧭.

The first workouts weren’t exactly romantic 😅. Breathing was heavy 😮‍💨, legs quickly got tired 🦵, and climbs looked like mountains ⛰️. Sometimes I asked myself: Why do people voluntarily do this? 😄 But then came the moment that changes everything. The view from the top of a hill 🌄, the peace of the forest 🌳, the sound of the wind through the treetops 🍃, or the feeling that I had completely escaped the everyday rhythm of life. That’s when I realized something important. I’m not running just for fitness 💪. I run for the feeling of freedom.

🌬️🏃‍♂️A lesson that running taught me

In the beginning, I thought running was actually a numbers game 📊. How many kilometers? 📏 How fast? ⏱️ Am I better today than yesterday? 🤨 Like many others, I focused on statistics – apps 📱, watches ⌚, graphs, and results. Every workout was a small test. If the pace wasn’t good, I felt like something had failed. As if a workout was only worth it if it was faster or longer. But over time, I realized one of the most important lessons that running gave me. Running isn’t pushing yourself too hard ❌. One day, I simply stopped chasing numbers. I went out on a trail without a plan, without pressure, and without expectations. I just ran. And that’s when the shift happened.

Running became simple 🌿. I started listening to my breathing 🌬️, feeling the rhythm of my steps 👣, and observing things I hadn’t even noticed before – the sun shining through the branches ☀️🌳, the smell of the forest 🌲, the sound of a stream somewhere in the distance 💧. I discovered that the true beauty of running isn’t in speed, but in lightness. That’s the moment when body and mind find the same rhythm 🧠🤝💪. Thoughts quiet down, steps become natural, and every kilometer is no longer a struggle, but movement. On trail paths, this feeling is even stronger 🏞️. When you run through the forest 🌲, jump over rocks 🪨, or follow a narrow mountain trail ⛰️, you start to feel something special. Freedom. Not the big and dramatic freedom written about in books 📚, but that small, quiet freedom that comes with every step 👣. Freedom to be alone with yourself. Freedom to move. Freedom to breathe with full lungs 🌬️. And then you realize that running was never just a sport. It’s a state of mind.

💪🌟 Why I still run

Today, I love training. I love the process of preparation – both of the body 💪 and the mind 🧠 – for the goals I set for myself 🎯. Of course, it’s not always easy. There are days when there’s plenty of energy 🔋 and you feel strong. But there are also those other days – when legs are heavy 🦵, the weather is bad 🌧️, and the couch at home looks very tempting 🛋️😄. That’s precisely when the real lesson happens. Because every time you go out on the trail anyway, you prove to yourself that you can do more than you think.

Running taught me perseverance. Step by step 👣. Day by day 📅. Kilometer by kilometer 📏. One of the reasons running holds a special place in my life is also my daughter 👧❤️. By example, I want to show her that the body and mind are capable of incredible things. That obstacles aren’t a sign to give up ❌, but an opportunity to become stronger 💪. It doesn’t always have to be running. What matters is movement 🚶‍♂️, effort 🔄, and belief in yourself 🌟.

So, for everyone who is wondering whether to start running, I have a simple message: Try it. Yes, it will be hard 😅. Yes, muscles will hurt that you didn’t even know existed 🦵🔥. But after that comes something special. A feeling of energy ⚡, satisfaction 😊, and inner peace 🧘‍♂️ that is hard to describe in words. Our body is a perfect machine, created for movement 🚶‍♂️🏃‍♂️. And running allows it to return to where it feels most alive. And maybe one day you’ll realize the same thing I did. You didn’t start running for the results 🏅. You started running for freedom. 🏃‍♂️🌿✨
